"RE:VISION"
Curated Exhibit

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
RE:VISION is a movement designed to engage the community, promoting environmental awareness, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving. By opening up a dialogue between artists, educators, and the public, the project seeks to inspire new perspectives on sustainability and help lead the way toward a more mindful future. At the heart of this exchange is the curatorial vision of Amanda Koss, who brings these voices together through powerful works. Visitors will encounter innovative pieces, including interactive sculpture and compelling artwork crafted from reclaimed materials such as found objects, fabric, and old housing.

ABOUT THE WORK I HAVE IN THE SHOW:
"Ballad # 38"  is a work I composed using bits of the past. I love to re purpose materials from those whom i loved...or things that I hold dear to my heart. Some of the materials used in this work are: a watch that my father gave to me years and years ago -it belonged to his father. He said, "well... Diane, the watch is no longer working but I know you will honor it and give it purpose". I thought that was very insightful of him ..this was back in 1999 - he passed away in 2000. Other materials used are- photo of me that my father took, a pressed cabbage leaf, wine corks, bits of an accordion that was gifted to me by a family friend residing in Canada who loves to play the Accordion...some embroidery from Grandma Barica from pillow cases that I had used for 4 decades or more. A part of a letter sent to my father back before he immigrated to the USA in the early 50's. Bits of paint on canvas and a substrate I made using packing materials and more. a patch that my father had on his work shirt. He was number 38 at the GM tech center for many years. He worked in metal and many of his prototypes he had his hands on.. you can find today at the Henry Ford Museum. ( he was responsible for all the metal forming etc). He was a wizard with metal...and also a fine maker of plum brandy...and sausage making. He even made the still and the sausage machine...He was always tinkering making new inventions... The work is a poem ... a song...dear to my heart and it beckons to be remembered and played for all time.

"Blood Runs Deep"
a mixed media sculpture honoring the first People of this country and to those who have been a Part of the red flow.
History and DNA has reported that- the indigenous people had walked this country 18 + thousands of years before it became USA. The blood that has been shed then...and since. Let us not forget its origins. Time sadly continues to show that upon this land blood has been shed from civil war to thousands of domestic mass shootings. Acts of violence and Hate crimes and political crime burrowing it's ugly head deep for many.
The Bird like being_ many birds symbolize peace and hope through their ability to fly between earth and sky, acting as messengers, embodying resilience, and representing renewal, holding unique meanings, signifying that even in hardship, light, transformation, and new beginnings are possible,
The work is a way of remembering and honoring and a prayer for peace.
