by Diane Marie Krämer photo by Michael Schaefer ABOUT THIS WORK: “Spirit spoke to me, advising me I would require courage. More courage, for what was to come. Courage comes from and is of the heart—the word means heart. And I asked: How am I to express this courage in a tangible way? Create a form, Spirit said, and call it courage—pure, naked courage. It will grow as you are fashioning it—both physically before you, and within your heart.. Then don it with material that has been important in your life. Fabrics of meaning. All your life you have clothed yourself, your table, your home. Gather bits and pieces of these to form a rich garment, and clothe courage in it. Don courage with this sacred vestment. Your heart will grow braver from this ritual of courage creation. ” Clothe Me in Courage . . . . As I remember all whom I have lost, and my heart is breaking, and my hands are shaking, and even as I acknowledge that there are more losses coming. I am placing ribbons and buttons and shells and keys and feathers on this beautiful being to celebrate life even as I mourn. I am throwing riotous color against the darkness. I am reminding my SELF that I am loved and that I LOVE in spite of any and all heartbreak".

Delighted to be selected for this up and coming show 🥰 “Fiber on the Edge: Beyond the Decorative" An exhibit Curated by Susan Aaron-Taylor, Located at the Janice Charach Gallery thejdetroit.org/culture-education/janice-charach-gallery/ Exhibit Dates: July 26 – September 2, 2026 Opening Reception: Sunday, July 26, 1 – 4 p.m. Artist Talk: Sunday, August 30, 2 PM Curated by Susan Aaron-Taylor, Fiber on the Edge: Beyond the Decorative invites viewers into a dynamic field where material, process, and concept converge to redefine the language of fiber. This exhibition brings together artists who challenge the conventional boundaries of textile practice, transforming thread, cloth, and unconventional fibers into artworks of inquiry and innovation. This exhibition celebrates not only craftsmanship, but the bold vision of artists who push fiber to it’s limits. The works on view embrace experimentation, interweaving alternative materials, sculptural forms, and immersive installations that extend far past the wall. Traditional techniques are not abandoned, but rather stretched, disrupted, and re-imagined, grounding each piece in the rich lineage of fiber arts while propelling it into new conceptual terrain. At its core, Fiber on the Edge is a dialogue between hand and idea, structure and meaning. Together, these works challenge perception, provoke thought, and assert fiber as a powerful medium for contemporary expression. I will be exhibiting- "Mr Bojangles" and "Clothe me in courage" fabric Mixed Media Sculptures. "Mr. Bojangles" Fabric mixed media
